Poker News

  • "Road to Vegas" The new season starts Monday 20th April, 7:45pm. Don't be late (Jon and Mel). All new players welcome. And don't forget, introduce a new player and you get a full seasons Subs paid!!!
  • Congratulations, Wayne "Ave it" Smithson, who romped away with season 4 of "The Hungry Fox Poker League" Dale Frisk took an early lead with 2 tournament wins at the beginning of the Season, but Wayne consistently finished in the top 3 to walk away with the Trophy. Husband and wife Jon and Mel Ashworth qualify for the regional's, both with very different styles of play. This will be Mel's second regional's. Glynn "king 8, any 2 crap cards" Longbottom completes The Hungry Fox line up for the regional final, I predict a good finish for Glynn with his fearless play. Good luck all!!!!!! Let's hope somebody wins a place with Terry for Vegas.
  • Early pacesetter in the new season is Dale Frisk, playing his own special style he has cruised into a commanding early lead.  Glynn "king 8" is closing the gap as is newcomer Johnny "biscuit". Wayne "ave it" Smithson takes up his mandatory spot in the top five. And John "bad beat" Ashworth makes up the top five with a thumping victory in week five. Good luck all and keep chasing the dream.
  • Daniel Gent is the latest player to qualify for the National Finals and a chance to qualify for LAS VEGAS.  Mel, Trots, Amy and Wayne also played the Regional finals in Newcastle on 12th January, but they all disgraced themselves by going out early (lol). Daniel kept The Hungry Fox flag flying by eventually finishing in 3rd and will travel to the Nationals in May, well done mate!!!!!

Sorry about the grainy photo, this is the final table at the Nationals and Daniel is front row, second from right!

  • New season starts Monday 19th January 8pm. Don't be late!!! (Jon and Mel).
  • Congratulations go to Nigel "I swear it was over the line" Bannister, who won season 3 of The Hungry Fox Poker League. A poker novice when he came first came 6 months ago has now topped this seasons league table. Good luck to all those who qualified for the regional's. Let's hope someone can join Terry in winning a seat to Las Vegas.

  • Congratulations to Terry Rowley, who has won through to the final table of the national poker league. He qualified from The Hungry Fox league back in May to the regional finals. At the regional final, in Newcastle, Terry finished 3rd and booked a place at the nationals with shaun firth, who finished 5th. The National final was played out in Derby, back in November. Sadly Shaun went out early in the day, but Terry went on a deep run to finish the day chip leader. When play got down to 5 players the tournament was stopped and those 5 (including Terry)  will play the remainder of the tournament in Las Vegas!!!! Terry and his wife will get free flights, accommodation and spending money while in Las Vegas where Terry will play on for some major cash prizes and the title of Poker in the Pub National Champion 2009! You still have a chance to qualify, just come on down Monday nights to give yourself a chance.
